Luctonians in the Community

We are absolutely delighted to share that Mel and Jeanette (Ginge), who tirelessly run and coordinate our Luctonians Rounders Section, have been honoured with the Rounders England Award for Outstanding Contribution 2025!

The awards were announced on Sunday 21st September at the England Rounders National Finals (The Sports National Governing Body), and we couldn’t be prouder to see their dedication and hard work recognised on the national stage.

From training and developing the youth squad and feeding them into the women’s league, to running a 12 – team adult league every week through the summer, Mel and Ginge have ensured that rounders thrives in our community.

And let’s not forget, these two do it all as volunteers, giving up their time purely for their love of the sport and of Luctonians.

As highlighted in their nomination: “Mel and Jeanette (Ginge) run Luctonians Rounders and have done so for many, many years. Every year, they make a difference to well over 100 women and many youngsters, ensuring everyone finds a place in sport. The league has members aged 13 to 73, all ably supported by these two individuals who, together, make an outstanding contribution to their community and the sport of rounders.”

Their passion, commitment, and community spirit are truly inspiring, and this award is so thoroughly deserved and well overdue!

Please join us in congratulating Mel and Ginge on this outstanding achievement!
