The final round of the Sinclair Defender Schools Series took place this week, bringing together over 60 Year 7 boys from five local high schools for an exciting afternoon of rugby.
Despite the chilly conditions, the level of play was exceptional, with enthusiasm and sportsmanship shining through across all teams.
Having triumphed in Round 2, Wigmore High School continued their dominant form, securing four wins from four matches in Round 3. Their resolute defence proved unbreakable as they completed the afternoon without conceding a single try – a performance that sealed their place as the first-ever Sinclair Defender Schools Series Champions.
Weobley High School finished second after recovering strongly from an opening loss to Wigmore, while QE Bromyard took third thanks to consistent performances across the series. Lady Hawkins claimed fourth place following a strong final round, narrowly edging out Earl Mortimer College in fifth.
The final standings saw Wigmore lift the trophy ahead of Weobley, with QE Bromyard, Lady Hawkins, and Earl Mortimer College completing the order.
Special thanks were given to The Sinclair Group for their sponsorship and ongoing support, as well as to the coaches and referees who made the three-round competition possible.
The next event in the series will be the Girls Schools Series, set to kick off after half term.
