All roads led to Luctonians for the fourth instalment of the Hospice Barbarians rugby series.
An incredible £33,900 was raised on Saturday 2nd May, as Luctonians hosted the annual Hospice Barbarians Day. This year’s event featured the much-anticipated Men’s match alongside the exciting addition of a Women’s fixture for the very first time. Spectators were also treated to an Under-18s County match, making it a fantastic showcase of rugby across all levels of the game.
The Hospice Barbarians were founded in 2023 by Nick Nenadich, born from a deep love of rugby and a strong desire to give something back to St Michael’s Hospice. Channelling his passion and determination, Nick brought together an open, fast-paced and entertaining squad made up of players from across Herefordshire and south Shropshire.
Since their formation, the Hospice Barbarians have taken to the field each year in support of the Hospice, with every player, coach and trainer generously giving their time to help raise vital funds for patient care across Herefordshire.
The day would not have been possible without the huge efforts of volunteers and sponsors, all of whom worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every aspect of the occasion ran smoothly.
This was Luctonians’ second time hosting the event and, with a number of senior Luctonians players representing the Hospice Barbarians squad, it made for an incredibly special occasion both on and off the field.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the day and continues to dig deep in support of a truly special charity.
